Ahead of the release of the official list of the year’s top baby names (compiled by the Social Security Administration), baby naming site Nameberry has announced its list of the most-searched monikers for boys and girls of 2016…so far!
Using Google Analytics to analyze searches, here are the names Nameberry says are on the rise:
For girls:
1. Olivia
2. Amelia
3. Charlotte
4. Ava
5. Isla
6. Arabella
7. Aurora
8. Adeline
9. Penelope
10. Eleanor
Some of the entries on this list, like Olivia, Amelia, Charlotte, and Ava, aren’t strangers to popularity. But it’s great to see monikers like Eleanor and Penelope breaking through; my family literally knows four Avas already!

And, for the boys:
1. Ezra
2. Asher
3. Atticus
4. Declan
5. Oliver
6. Silas
7. Milo
8. Levi
9. Henry
10. Wyatt
The boy names parents are getting excited about this year seem to reflect a lot of diversity in naming styles. I’m personally loving Asher!

Lists like this may help expectant couples in two ways: either you’re like me, and you are curious to know what the baby name trends are so you can avoid them; or you figure if enough parents love a certain name, there must be something to it and consider giving it a shot! I’ll admit I was relieved to see none of my daughters’ names seem to be very popular in 2016.
What is your favorite name on this list, both for boys and girls?
