How one amazing nurse turned the impossible into a reality.
The early days of motherhood are no walk in the park. And really, let’s be honest – it’s us mums that bear most of the brunt of it.
There’s the impact of pushing a tiny (but not so tiny when you’re in the moment) human out of our bodies, the aftermath as everything slowly bounces … no, slinks back into place. The after-birth pains. Then if you decide to breastfeed, the cracked nipples and just general lack of sleep.
Most mums would willingly hand some of those things over and share the load with the men in their lives if possible, and many new dads would jump at the chance to help out and be more hands on if the opportunity arose. So is there a way to make it happen? We thought not, but then we found a post by new dad, Maxamillian Neubauer, from Wisconsin in the US.
Where can we get one of those?
The new dad proudly posted an image of himself and is newborn daughter on Facebook.
“Due to complications during April’s emergency C-section, this super rad nurse made an epically-killer offer, and I was fortunate enough to slap on a suction cup fake nipple,” he wrote.
“Being the first to breastfeed da baby!!!! ‘I did it for the mums’ Eat your heart out!!!”

“This man is a badass!”
Neubauer’s post has been shared almost 22,000 times and attracted more than 5000 comments, and his exciting accomplishment was mostly well-received.
There were many phrases thrown around, like “Great Daddy” and “Love this!”
One person commented, “this man is a badass!!!”
Another added, “So awesome, good daddy right there.”
Sure, there were some people that clearly haven’t been in that situation themselves and can’t appreciate what a ‘real man’ does for his family, but we don’t even think they deserve the air time.
Seeing an image like this may appear slightly odd at first, but we can assure you it’s completely safe and beneficial for both dad and bub.

‘Supplemental Nursing System’ (SNS)
A supplemental nursing system (SNS) is used in a number of different situations. It allows for extra milk to be received by the baby at the breast. It consists of a bag of breast milk worn around the mother’s neck, connected to a nipple shield via thin tubing that carries milk to the baby’s mouth as they ‘latch on’ to the breast to supplement breastfeeding.
It is also a great bonding opportunity for father and daughter.
Regardless of what strangers on the internet have to say about it, the main thing is that this man is doing something positive for his wife, his baby and also himself. He is stepping up, taking one for the team.
Do you know an amazing dad that would step up for his family?
