Actor/director Tyler Perry and his longtime girlfriend Gelila Bekele welcomed their first son over Thanksgiving weekend. And they gave him a name that has meaning to them: Aman Tyler Perry.
Depending on your source, Aman is either a Hindi boys’ name meaning peace, or a variant spelling of Iman, an Arabic girls’ name meaning faith. Tyler and Gelila appear to adhere to the former, stating that the name was chosen to honor “the true meaning of Thanksgiving and then, of course, the holiday season.”
Tyler, of course, is in honor of Daddy. It’s an occupational name that means “maker of tilers”, and currently a top 100 name for boys, though it’s been used for girls as well.
