Start Solids when Baby can sit upright with support and is interested in the foods you’re eating.
Begin with Single-Ingredient Pureed Foods, such as banana, apple, sweet potato, butternut squash, lentils, baby cereals, cauliflower, or chicken.
Talk to Your Doctor about introducing nut butters and other allergens.
Once Baby Tolerates Single-Ingredient Foods, move on to mixed puree meals, such as salmon and potato, beef and broccoli, or chickpeas and spinach.
Let Baby Explore More Simple, Soft Finger Foods like chopped hard-boiled egg, peas, smashed blueberries, cooked pasta, and shredded cheese.
Skip added salt and sugar.
Add More Flavor with herbs, spices, and spritzes of lemon and lime.
Graduate to Chunkier Purees if Baby is swallowing easily. Mash food with a fork instead of a blender.
Offer as many flavors as possible.
Include Superfoods such as quinoa, flaxseeds, tofu, and fish.
Keep Up the Finger Foods and cut up soft pieces of your meal for your baby to share.
